Praise the Lord! | 2 Samuel 22 | David: The Shepherd King | Week 13
• Series: The Shepherd King
In today’s message, Praise the Lord!, Pastor Tim Rolen invites us to pause with David in 2 Samuel 22 and look back—honestly, humbly, and worshipfully. As David nears the end of his life, he offers a song of praise not because life was easy, but because God was faithful. This isn’t praise that glosses over pain; it’s praise born out of repentance, restoration, and the realization that every victory belonged to the Lord. David had faced enemies on every front: from Philistines and Moabites, to betrayal by Saul and heartbreak from Absalom. But his greatest battles were often internal—against pride, lust, and selfishness. And yet, through honest confession and deep dependence on God, David experienced grace that lifted him and strength that sustained him. Pastor Tim reminded us that God becomes our Rock when we stand on His truth, our Fortress when we run to His presence, and our Deliverer when we trust in His power. The message calls each of us to personal reflection: Where are we still fighting battles in our own strength? What broken places need God's healing grace? Just like David, we’re invited to pray simple but powerful prayers of repentance and to rediscover the freedom and joy that come from walking closely with God. When we choose to stand on Him, behind Him, and with Him, our hearts are steadied and our worship becomes a weapon of victory.
